Advice in hindsight

-

Final thoughts

Asked questions to someone who had interviewed for the same course the year before.

Remember this advice isn't official. There is no guarantee it will reflect your experience because university applications can change between years. Check the official Cambridge and Oxford websites for more accurate information on this year's application format and the required tests.

Also, someone else's experience may not reflect your own. Most interviews are more like conversations than tests and like, any conversation, they are quite interactive.

Interview Format

Test taken: TSA

Number of interviews: 3

Skype interview: No

Time between each interview: 1-2 days

Length of interviews: 20 minutes each

What happened in your interview? How did you feel?

Economics: I was given a problem sheet.

Philosophy: We discussed a source that I was given.

Politics: We discussed a political topic (more general/abstract and not current).

The atmosphere was friendly.

A few questions were asked about my personal statement.

The interviews were not knowledge based.

How did you prepare?

I did two TSA papers.

What advice do you have for future applicants?

Looking back, what advice would you give to your past self?

I asked questions to somebody who did an interview for the same course the year before; I didn't really prepare since I was told interviews were not knowledge based and hard to prepare for.
