Final thoughts

Remember you are being interviewed for a reason- they think you’re a strong applicant!

Remember this advice isn't official. There is no guarantee it will reflect your experience because university applications can change between years. Check the official Cambridge and Oxford websites for more accurate information on this year's application format and the required tests.

Also, someone else's experience may not reflect your own. Most interviews are more like conversations than tests and like, any conversation, they are quite interactive.

What happened in your interview? How did you feel?

In my first interview I was asked about my personal statement, and some other questions to try and find out the way I thought/whether I had the logical reasoning skills necessary for law! In my second interview, I was given some time to read excerpts from 2 related criminal law cases. We then discussed them, considering whether my thoughts would change with subtle changes in the scenario or context. I really enjoyed this one!

How did you prepare for your interviews?

I read over my personal statement in case they asked me anything based on that, as well as re-familiarising myself with the content of resources I mentioned in the statement. As no prior knowledge is assumed for law, I didn’t have to revise anything from school!

If you took a test, how did you prepare?

Practiced using past papers on the LNAT website to familiarise myself with the format and ensure time management!

What advice would you give to future applicants?

Don’t be too nervous, if you can help it - try and consider it low stakes. If you don’t know what to say or need a question repeated, be honest about it! Remember you are being interviewed for a reason- they think you’re a strong applicant!
