Remember this advice isn't official. There is no guarantee it will reflect your experience because university applications can change between years. Check the official Cambridge and Oxford websites for more accurate information on this year's application format and the required tests.

Also, someone else's experience may not reflect your own. Most interviews are more like conversations than tests and like, any conversation, they are quite interactive.

Interview Format

Test taken: Education Written Assessment

Number of interviews: 2

Skype interview: no

Time between interviews: 4 hours

Length of first interview: 15 minutes; Length of second interview: 30 minutes

What happened in your interview? How did you feel?

The first interview was not subject related so I was asked about what I imagined life in Cambridge to be like. I also talked about the workload at school and my interest in the subject. I was very nervous in the beginning as English is not my mother tongue but the interview turned out to be fun.

In the second subject related interview I was given different statements on Education and we discussed them. It was rather like a chat and we were sitting around a coffee table so I felt quite comfortable.

How did you prepare?

The best thing I did was to read a lot as preparation. I also practiced essays. During the interview I had the impression that they really liked that I was continuously talking even if my thoughts were not really well thought-out. But they could see how my thinking developed throughout the interview and that their questions and suggestions had an impact on me. I guess they wanted to see that I was hyped for the subject and that their way of teaching works best with me.
